BREAKING NEWS: Sigma-Aldrich Acquires Research Organics to Strengthen Portfolio of PharmaGrade Raw Materials

Yesterday, Sigma-Aldrich announced the acquisition of Research Organics, a leading supplier of biochemicals for use in various bioprocessing, biotechnology and diagnostic applications. The addition means that SAFC will now be able to offer dual sourced buffers, as well as an expansion of the raw materials catalog of products. As executives for both companies noted, the acquisition has been made with an end goal of increasing quality of service and capacity to partner with customers on both standard and custom project solutions.

LIVE from INFORMEX 2012: President Gilles Cottier Looks at the Past and Future of SAFC

It has been a busy week here at Informex 2012. As a show exhibitor, sponsor of the Informex Networking Lounge and Speed Networking Sessions, and as a participant in various presentations throughout the show, SAFC has maximized the time here in New Orleans.

Today, SAFC was the host of two important presentations: one being a press briefing given by President Gilles Cottier and the other a Tech Talk on cocrystallization technology by Professor Chris Frampton. SAFC Live will be back in the next few days with a wrap up and overview of the cocrystal technology from Chris. For the moment, we wanted to take time to highlight Gilles’ presentation that was made in front of such high level publications as C&EN, Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemical Week, and Manufacturing Chemist, to name a few.

BREAKING NEWS: BioReliance to Become Part of SAFC

Today, Sigma Aldrich confirmed that the newly acquired BioReliance business will become part of SAFC, the custom manufacturing and services business unit of Sigma-Aldrich. SAFC President, Gilles Cottier noted that the acquisition would serve to increase the SAFC value proposition and positively leverage the company’s industrial media presence and biological testing capabilities for end user services and solutions.
