SAFC Welcomes you to booth I-16

SAFC is once again onsite at CPhI Japan as both an exhibitor (Booth I-16) and presenter. The event is currently underway at the Big Sight Exhibition Centre in Tokyo from Wednesday, April 24th – Friday, April 26th and as we mark our 11th year of participation, it is fair to say that we have enjoyed watching the event evolve through the years. In fact, SAFC was honored last year by event organizer, UBM Live, as part of a group of 47 exhibitors that have attended CPhI Japan since 2002!

Japan has established itself as the leader of Asia’s pharmaceutical industry. It is also the world’s second largest market known for innovative technologies and products discoveries. CPhI Japan is unique in its ability to bring together key global players in the industry, including major suppliers and influencers, in a unique platform that offers direct access to this flourishing market.

SAFC to Present on CHOZN® Platform at Cell Culture World Congress Next Week

SAFC will be onsite next week at the 3rd annual Cell Culture World Congress in Munich, Germany. Held from February 26-28th at the Sofitel, the event serves to provide a platform for networking and learning about the latest developments in optimized cell culture development for pharma, biotech, CMOs and media providers.

SAFC will be at Booth 6 on the main floor  highlighting our company’s unique emphasis on process materials (raw materials, media, CHOZN® Platform) and upstream capabilities.

Trissa Borgschulte, Principal R&D Scientist, Cell Line Engineering will be presenting on the CHOZN® Platform on February 28th at 4:40. Her presentation is titled “The CHOZN® Platform: a novel system for achieving industry relevant r-protein production”. Trissa will focus on using the platform to express several different industry relevant recombinant proteins including IgG1s and an FC fusion. The presentation will also offer cell line development data and preliminary N-glycan analysis and bioreactor scale-up data.

SAFC Pharmorphix® Pre-Formulation Services Enhances its Crystallization Development Offering

Two instruments were recently acquired and installed by SAFC to enhance its Pharmorphix solid form technologies portfolio in Cambridge, UK, which expands the company’s offering to customers in the area of crystallization development.  The Lasentec FBRM probe and PVM system, (purchased from Mettler Toledo), enables particle sizes to be measured and monitored in situ during a crystallization process.  By allowing particles to be measured in the actual form by which they exist – whether within a process or while the process is running allows the scientists to optimize the crystallization process such that crystals can be grown to fit the ideal sized particles for the user’s specific application. SAFC now has a great advantage over standard technologies that only allow crystals in isolation to be measured.

BREAKING NEWS: Sigma-Aldrich Acquires Research Organics to Strengthen Portfolio of PharmaGrade Raw Materials

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

Yesterday, Sigma-Aldrich announced the acquisition of Research Organics, a leading supplier of biochemicals for use in various bioprocessing, biotechnology and diagnostic applications. The addition means that SAFC will now be able to offer dual sourced buffers, as well as an expansion of the raw materials catalog of products. As executives for both companies noted, the acquisition has been made with an end goal of increasing quality of service and capacity to partner with customers on both standard and custom project solutions.
